Sara Renner

Sara was raised at Mt. Assiniboine Lodge, southwest of Banff and credits her upbringing in this wilderness environment for her future skiing success. Her international competitive skiing career began in 1992 and continued till her retirement in 2010, at the end of the Vancouver Winter Olympics. Sara won a silver medal in the team sprint at the Torino Winter Olympics in 2006, with team-mate Beckie Scott.

Sara was a four time Olympian, competing in 1998 in Nagano, Salt Lake City 2002, Torino 2006 and Vancouver 2010.

In World Cup competition, Sara won three bronze medals in sprint events (Vernon, BC 2005, Borlange, Sweden 2006 and Canmore, Alberta 2010) and one silver in a 10 kilometre classic technique in Davos, Switzerland in 2006. As well, she won two silver medals in team events, the Women’s Relay in Soldier Hollow, USA in 2001 with team-mates Beckie Scott, Milaine Theriault and Amanda Fortier), and a team sprint in Canmore in 2005 with Beckie Scott.

Sara became the first Canadian and first North American woman to win a FIS World Ski Championship medal when she won bronze in the individual sprint in Oberstdorf, Germany in 2005.
